How to pick a good blend
- Look for shared letters. Ben + Jennifer works because both have an N in the right place: Bennifer.
- Say it out loud. If three consonants pile up at the join, try the names the other way round.
- Keep both words recognisable. The best blends keep the start of one word and the end of the other, like breakfast + lunch = brunch.
- Shorter usually wins for ship names and brand names. Long blends are fun for jokes.
Questions
What is a ship name?
A ship name blends two people's names into one, the way fans call a couple (a "relationship", shortened to ship). Bennifer is Ben + Jennifer and Brangelina is Brad + Angelina.
How does the generator choose blends?
It tries every way to join the start of one word to the end of the other, in both orders. Blends score higher when the two words share letters at the join, when the result is easy to say, and when you can still recognise both words.
Can I blend more than two words?
Blend two first, then blend the result with the third word.
Is it free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, so the names you type are never sent anywhere.
