How to play
- 1
Look at the colours. Each flag starts as just its colours, sized by how much of the flag they cover.
- 2
Guess or show more. Pick one of the four countries, or tap Show more to bring the flag into focus: big blocks, smaller blocks, then the real flag.
- 3
Early guesses score more. A flag starts at 5 points. Show more costs 1, a wrong guess costs 2 (and shows more). Five flags a day, 25 points to win.
Questions
Which flags are in the game?
All 193 United Nations members plus Vatican City, Palestine, England, Scotland and Wales: 198 flags. Flags are shown in a 4:3 shape so they all fit the same frame, so a few (Switzerland, Nepal, Qatar) look a little squarer or wider than in real life.
What do the age bands mean?
Ages 7–9 plays 60 famous flags with friendly wrong answers. Ages 10–12 adds 75 more from around the world. Ages 13+ uses every country, and the wrong answers are look-alike flags. Today’s 5 has one famous flag, two from around the world and two from anywhere.
Why are some wrong answers so similar?
On purpose. The other choices are often flags with the same colours in the same places, so you need to really know them. Flags that are practically identical (like Indonesia and Monaco, or Romania and Chad) never appear together, so the full flag always settles it.
Is it the same for everyone?
Yes. Everyone gets the same five flags and the same choices each day. Levels are the same for everyone too, and you can replay them to beat your stars.
Where do the flags come from?
The flag drawings are from the open-source flag-icons project (MIT licence).
