How to play Bridgeword
- 1
Look at both words. The hidden word has to make a real word or phrase with each of them.
- 2
Left word first. It goes in front of the answer: SUN + FLOWER makes SUNFLOWER.
- 3
Then the right word. The answer goes in front of it: FLOWER + POT makes FLOWERPOT. Two-word phrases count too, like ICE CREAM and CREAM CHEESE.
- 4
Type it in. The planks show how many letters it has. Stuck? Show a letter fills in the next one.
Questions
Is Today’s 5 the same for everyone?
Yes. Everyone gets the same five bridges each day, from easier to harder, so you can compare with friends.
What if I find a different word that works?
Every bridge is checked against thousands of compound words so only one answer fits. If yours makes two real everyday words, it is counted as right.
What age is it for?
From about 9. The answers are everyday words (football, rainbow, ice cream), so it is good spelling and vocabulary practice, and still a quick brain teaser for grown-ups.
How do levels work?
More than 500 levels of three bridges each, getting harder as you go. Solve a level to open the next one. Progress is saved on this device.
What is a compound word?
Two words joined to make a new one, like foot + ball = football. Some are written as one word, some with a space (ice cream, bus stop). Bridgeword uses both.
